A belt is a solved problem that nobody solved.
Leather belts are sized in five-centimetre jumps and you are never standing at one of them. Too tight after lunch, too loose by evening, and a row of holes that records every version of you that has worn it.
So we stopped treating the belt as a strap with holes in it. The webbing has performance stretch — freedom of motion to move with your body, and a secure hold with no pinching. The buckle is micro-adjustable, which is simply more precise than holes: you dial in your exact fit rather than picking the nearest notch and living with it.
It is also metal-free, which is the part people ask about. That is what makes airport security a breeze, and it costs you nothing in hold. The buckle is tapered so it feeds easily through belt loops, and an elastic keeper holds the excess belt tucked in place instead of flapping.
